Lauren Kramer, DVM

Dr. Kramer grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where her love of animals and the outdoors began at an early age through horse back riding and time with her childhood dog, Charlie. She attended Calvin University for her undergraduate degree, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biology while competing on the Equestrian team, She went on to attend Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she graduated with her Doctorate degree. Since then, she has had the opportunity to practice veterinary medicine in clinics across the country, including in San Diego and Boston, as she and her husband moved for his military service.

Dr. Kramer enjoys caring for dogs and cats of all breeds and has a particular interest in soft tissue surgery and dental care. She believes that some of the most important work in veterinary medicine happens before a pet ever becomes sick. She is passionate about preventative care and strives to partner with pet owners to find ways to keep their pets healthy, identify potential concerns early, and prevent problems whenever possible.

Dr. Kramer also has a special interest in making veterinary care accessible to communities in need. She has traveled to Honduras several times with Honduras Outreach Inc., providing veterinary care to animals and clients with limited access to veterinary services. During these trips, she has also had the opportunity to teach veterinary students about the importance of caring for both companion animals and food animals. These experiences have been incredibly meaningful to her, and she plans to continue participating in veterinary outreach in the future, both local and abroad.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Kramer enjoys spending time with her husband, Dave, and their dog, Skip, a Shih Tzu–Poodle mix. She loves horseback riding, traveling, long walks and spending time on the water. She has a special place in her heart for the lakes of northern Michigan, where she has spent much of her life enjoying time with family and friends.
